DB2 Database Administrator

Our client is seeking an OS/390 DB2 DBA for an Information Systems Department at a North Carolina based property & casualty insurance company with annual direct written premiums in excess of 500 million dollars. The ideal candidate should have a 3+ years of experience as an 0S/390 DBA. This candidate will work with the physical database design, define application databases and provide support to the application development staff. Candidate will be responsible for overseeing and performing database installation, database recovery, scheduling and performing upgrades to the databases. Candidates will manage database elements, including schemas, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, and triggers. Candidate will conduct performance analysis on application SQL code and assist in troubleshooting by providing solutions or directions that are consistent and effective. Candidate will also conduct research project efforts to identify and evaluate emerging technologies. Must be able to develop plans and strategies to introduce new technology that will provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Candidate will seek out, test, and implement new tools to resolve IT opportunities and increase department effectiveness. Candidate must possess the experience and skill level necessary to function as a Senior DBA in our department. Strong SQL, DB2, MVS mainframe system. Candidate must have the ability to work in a team environment.
