We are one of the leading insurance companies in the United States.  Our superior financial strength and consistent record of strong operating returns mean security for our customers - and opportunities for our employees.  You will find Travelers to be full of energy and a workplace in which you truly can make a difference. We are currently looking for a Data Analyst, Claim MI and Analytics.  Please read on for more details regarding this position. JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for supporting, researching, and documenting activities related Claim data management.  The Data Analyst is responsible for applying knowledge of data management tools, methods, and practices as well as knowledge of Claim data, business systems and processes to projects or complex programs.   Job Responsibilities: Review business requirements documentation and consult with project managers and business analysts on application design and documentation as respects data management. Provide root cause analysis and logical problem solving to system, data, and business analysts during the requirement phase of projects to ensure that data moving from the functional requirements level to the technical data and physical requirements level are understood and traceable. Develop consistent data element definitions and ensure data dictionaries are maintained across multiple database environments. Conduct in-depth analyses on data quality or data design issues within Claim.  Assesses designs for compliance with data standards.  As necessary, develop and document recommendations for achieving compliance.   Apply knowledge of Claim Services data and systems as a subject matter expert in support of projects, programs, and information services activities.   Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor's Degree in information systems; training in data management practices; and analysis techniques or equivalent work experienceExperience in relational database system support with a solid understanding of all data management techniquesExperience in analysis and systems integration work1 to 3 years in data administration on various platforms Desirable:Experience with IBM Information Analyzer (or like data profiling tool), Oracle, MS SQL ServerExperience in managing data dictionaries and logical modelsExperience in a property / casualty insurance environment Competencies:Analyzes complex issues and problems then synthesizes information to identify key issues and recommend action.  Demonstrated skills in flexible, logical and creative problem solving and solution development. Demonstrates excellent skills in written and oral communications.  Clearly articulates even the most complex concepts so others understand.  Listens and adjusts style according to the demands of the situation. Ability to work effectively as a team member and individual contributor In addition to an exciting environment, we offer: * Competitive base salary with additional opportunities for variable pay through recognition programs and incentive awards * 401(k) with company match* Comprehensive health plans that include coverage for same sex/domestic partners* Strong work/family and employee assistance programs* Tuition reimbursement * Vacation Purchase Plan* Training/Development opportunities We are proud to provide comprehensive, high quality employee programs to meet employees' needs now and in the future, including a very competitive financial package.
