Detail Clerk
Position Responsibilities:
The Detail Clerk will provide day-to-day underwriting support to the commercial property and casualty underwriters/underwriting associates to meet department, branch and corporate goals relating to underwriting profit, renewal retention, rate, customer service, and producer/client relations.
The ideal candidate must have exceptional skills in customer service, interpersonal, excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining workload. The candidate is a self motivated individual, confident in decision making and judgment abilities. The candidate must also demonstrate competencies in mathematical aptitude, strong PC skills including proficiency in Word and Excel, verbal, written and phone skills and the ability to perform within time constraints.
The successful person in this role will be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Enter new business submissions within 2 hours of receipt from Underwriters.
• Maintain compliance and quality on all transactions.
• Distribute incoming mail and faxes to Underwriters (UW) and Underwriting Associates (UA's) at least three times per day.
• When requested by UW team order account-specific information for underwriting files including claim information, certified copies, driver information, loss control reports and motor vehicle reports.
• Aggressively manage work received from UAs and UWs to ensure smooth and constant flow of items from team members as evidenced in 30% or less of premium booked in the last 6 days of the month for assigned book of business.
• Proactively follow-up on outstanding items based upon Renewal Register and Open Submissions in Work Manager. Take the initiative to secure information for work on hand and expected incoming work.
• Ensure that all booked/issued policies are entered, all cancellations and non-renewals are booked/closed in system, and that all new lines, renewals, and cancellations are booked correctly and prior to the end of the month. 100% data integrity is expected for all account information entered into the system, including explanation why quote was declined or rejected. 90% of items should be closed within 60 days of inception date.
• Work effectively with others, utilizing and sharing resources and expertise, to maximize your team's contribution to business results.
• Process transactions within published workflows including Broker of Record letters, Renewal Do Not Renew/Cancellations, Work Comp Dividends, Conditional Renewal Letters.
• Act as the centralized point person for all endorsement requests. Perform triage of endorsement requests and complete instructions for internal processing.
• Communicate and work effectively with all team members and business partners to ensure the service provided to customers meets or exceeds expectations.
• Effectively prioritize & manage the processing of work and related follow up. Process transactions according to the workflows procedures, standards and regulating requirements.
• Communicate regularly regarding status of service requests.
• Establish working relationship with internal colleagues to achieve team/branch goals. Communicate in support of creating an environment in which information is shared freely in a constructive, professional manner.
• Actively seeks ways to assist team members and positively accept additional responsibilities whenever possible. Demonstrate flexibility in responding to rapidly changing requests and a "can do" approach to new ideas. Effectively work with supervisor to communicate status of work, issues and concerns in a timely manner, along with identifying training needs and appropriate training solutions.
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
