Dir Technology, Enterprise Application Architecture - 33269

WellPoint is the nation's leading health benefits company serving the needs of approximately 28 million medical members nationwide.Position may be located at any major WellPoint location The Director of  Enterprise Application Architecture will determine the technology and architecture direction around WellPoint’s business applications, information integration and development tools.  This position develops the long term application strategies of these technologies based upon WellPoint’s business strategies such as the 2010.  The position leads teams that develop specific architectures needed to support the strategies and ensures that those architectures are reflected in application and information integration designs; the position ensures these designs are properly implemented by WellPoint’s development organizations as well as its outsource partners.  The position is also accountable for the creation and maintenance of application frameworks and the repositories to maintain them. The position contributes to environmental analyses using industry, peer competitor and regulatory agencies sources, to determine future direction of application development.  The position assists in the negotiation of enterprise level agreements with vendors.  Management duties include hiring, training, coaching, counseling and evaluating performance of direct reports. Performs other duties as assigned. BS/BA in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. MBA preferred. 5-8 years of information systems and management experience required. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects required. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required.
