We are one of the leading insurance companies in the United States.  Our superior financial strength and consistent record of strong operating returns mean security for our customers - and opportunities for our employees.  You will find Travelers to be full of energy and a workplace in which you truly can make a difference. We are currently looking for a Director - Client Reporting Unit, Residual Markets Division.  Please read on for more details regarding this position. JOB DESCRIPTION: Summary: The Client Reporting Unit of the Residual Markets Division is responsible for the coordination and reporting of Travelers workers’ compensation service activity which amounts to 35% of the country’s workers’ compensation assigned risk market.  We need a ‘hands on’ supervisor that has extensive insurance and reinsurance financial and accounting experience.  This unit is responsible for internal and external financial reporting and monitoring premium receivable balances. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Job Components (may include but are not limited to): -Direct the production of various daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to Residual Market internal and numerous external clients and regulatory agencies-Prioritizes work and initiatives and allocates resources within team based on goals and guidelines.-Manage, coach, mentor and develop staff of 2-4 individuals-Maintain compliance with SOX and departmental standards-Monitor results and balance/reconcile data-Recommend improvement to existing processes and workflow.-Participate in enterprise initiatives and special projects  Education/Work Experience -Experience in insurance and reinsurance accounting principles including Sox compliance concepts.-Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, accounting and financial reporting-Understanding of statutory accounting requirements-Supervisory experience-Clear, logical and effective verbal/written communication skills-Strong PC skills including EXCEL-Basic mainframe inquiry capabilities desired Other -Clearly demonstrated sense of urgency and action oriented-Ability to work well under pressure-Demonstrated ability to work independently-Ability to forge strong working relationships, including IT resources -Ability to effectively direct the work of others-Solid analytical and technical skills-Demonstrated ability to interpret technical material-Takes ownership of problems and develops sound solutions-Solid problem solving skills In addition to an exciting environment, we offer: * Competitive base salary with additional opportunities for variable pay through recognition programs and incentive awards * 401(k) with company match* Comprehensive health plans that include coverage for same sex/domestic partners* Strong work/family and employee assistance programs* Tuition reimbursement * Vacation Purchase Plan* Training/Development opportunities We are proud to provide comprehensive, high quality employee programs to meet employees' needs now and in the future, including a very competitive financial package.
