Director, Agent Interface Systems
In this position you will lead a team of engineers who are engaged in a large scale effort to design, develop, and implement our Agency Interface System. The AI suite of applications will allow our 600+ independent agent partners to interact with us electronically. The specific functionality of the AI system includes entering new business, effecting book transfers, initiating policy inquiries, and more.
We are ideally looking for a software developer who has risen through the ranks and possesses a blend of technical knowledge coupled with the Project Management skills to lead a large development effort.
Knowledge, Skills and Education Required:
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience), with a minimum of 10+ years of software development experience.
•Experience developing internet applications using Java/J2EE technologies and Visual Basic/COM+.
•PMP certification or extensive experience managing end user requirements as well as using Project Management best practices.
•Expert level knowledge and understanding of XML, XSLT and web technologies, including JSP and ASP.
•Extensive Experience in designing, documenting and implementing highly scalable and high performance J2EE and COM+ based distributed systems
•Extensive experience in analysis and design using Java and Visual Basic
•Experience in understanding, interpreting, and creating software design documents
•Experience with adherence to a Software Development Methodology
•Solid relational database design and development skills; administration experience a plus.
•Experience in team based software development using software configuration management systems and source control systems
•Strong written and oral communication skills
•Ability to handle multiple projects at a time
•Must be a team player
Additional Details and Responsibilities:
•Knowledge of the Property and Casualty Insurance industry is a big plus
•Experience with object oriented software development methodologies and UML modeling tools such as Rational Rose.
•Software systems integration and migration experience
•J2EE application server experience is a big plus.
•Knowledge of UML, Design Patterns, Struts, Apache, SOAP, web services and XP tools is a huge plus.
•Experience with Blaze Rule Engine or Image Right is also a plus.
