Director of Business Development

Palmetto GBA, LLC, a subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, has an immediate need in its Washington, DC location for a Director of Business Development. 

 

The selected candidate will work with the president and COO, executive vice presidents and the business development team to develop and implement the company’s business development plan. The director will be responsible for researching and analyzing potential business opportunities for Palmetto GBA, as well as developing relationships with business and government decision makers that will lead to successful solicitations and bids. You will also provide market intelligence and participate in the marketing strategies for Palmetto GBA. All activities associated with developing a very positive corporate relationship with potential and leading corporate efforts to position Palmetto GBA as the preferred vendor for potential opportunities within the company’s core competencies. This position will include frequent meetings and follow-ups with potential customers and business partners.

 

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in health care management, public administration, marketing or a related field. Five years of executive experience in planning, business development, sales or government affairs with particular emphasis in health care or health care technology also required. Strong interpersonal, communication and PC skills (including ability to use word processing systems and various search engines) necessary. Strong leadership and marketing skills required. Must have knowledge of federal and state governmental procurement processes. Ability to conduct continuous research and analysis key. Requires up to 40% travel as well as frequent informal and formal presentations.
