Responsibilities

The person in this position will be responsible for planning, conducting and directing testing and analysis of electrical equipment including electronic process control and measuring equipment submitted for FM Approval. He or she will work in FM Global’s state of the art facility in Norwood, MA, USA.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the development of proposals, preparation of test plans, supervision of tests, project management, documentation of results, preparation of written reports and other complex tasks associated with third party certification.

The senior engineering position will also involve representing the organization in various trade associations and making technical presentations to varied audiences on behalf of the organization. The working environment includes both the office and laboratory. Overnight travel, to consult with customers, attend technical conferences and to conduct and monitor tests at test facilities, is typically less than 20%.

 

Qualifications

MS/BS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering and a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience with process control and measuring equipment. Familiarity with design safety and installation standards for electrical equipment particularly those used in hazardous/classified locations (e.g. ANSI, IEC, AUS/NZ, CSA, UL, EN, FM Approval Standards, and National Electrical Code) is desired. Successful candidate should have demonstrated project management skills, superior written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency with programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
