MetLife, a leading provider of insurance and other financial services to individual and institutional customers, is seeking an Enrolled Actuary (EA) in Boston, MA. Major Duties and Functions Include: Provides actuarial services for defined benefit plans primarily serviced by the MetLife Pension Resource Center (PRC) Plan Administration & Design, a nationwide organization which provides actuarial services on a fee basis to qualified retirement plans, both traditional and cash balance, which are primarily in the small business segment of the market. Actuarial services include certification of the annual actuarial valuation report, certification of the IRS Form 5500, Schedule B, can certification of PBCG Form 1, Schedule A. Provides actuarial certification on PBGC Form EA-S that plan assets are sufficient to satisfy plan liabilities upon termination of a defined benefit plan. Prepares FAS 87/132/158 for plan sponsor and auditor, when required, and consults with them regarding the basis for the calculations and results. Provides technical support, consulting, direction and education to the PRC consultants and producers. Consults with the plan design team and producers to provide plan design and proposals for new traditional defined benefit and cash balance new sales. Consults with clients, producers, and PRC consultants on PPA funding changes and the potential current, and future, funding impact of plan redesign. Assist PRC plan administration consultants with appropriate assumptions for profit sharing plan new comparability contribution calculations. What You Need to Succeed: Bachelors Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Science or equivalent is required. Enrolled Actuary (EA) is required. Additional actuarial and professional designations are desirable, but not required. 5+ years experience in the pension actuarial field. Complete and thorough knowledge of ERISA and PPA, and all other legislation and regulations that impact qualified retirement plans. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment in order to meet regulatory and negotiated deadlines. Organized self-starter with time management skills and the ability to work without direction. Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
