Position Description:
This position exists in our Actuarial Solutions group. This group is responsible for the creating, maintaining and supporting activities related to actuarial models, data and systems. The purpose of this position is to design and implement model solutions using the MoSes software package based on requirements provided by our actuarial business partners.
The financial modeler possesses strong mathematical and technical skills and, under limited supervision, is expected conceptualize, design, and implement financial and actuarial models based on technical and business requirements. The financial modeler, working closely with business partners, is responsible for the delivery of financial and actuarial model solutions which conform to technical best practices and controls of the department.
This job series creates and executes data-driven financial and actuarial models that project current and future financial performance of life and annuity products using industry standard modeling technology and valuation methods.
Translates business and technical requirements into actuarial and financial models using modeling technology (MoSes) and valuation methods.Ability to work as a close teammate with our actuarial business partners in requirements and design definition.Prepares and executes design, validation and test documentation along with assisting in the implementation of actuarial and financial models.Responsible for model optimization.Understands and uses proper change management techniques in conformance with existing departmental controls Provides technical assistance for the installation of new software packages and software upgrades related to modelingAssist with model production support
Qualifications:Bachelors degree in mathematics, actuarial or computer science, or equivalent experience 2+ years programming experience, with an emphasis in C++ programming preferred Familiarity with financial reporting, accounting, actuarial concepts, and life insurance products.Knowledge of MoSes/TAS/ALFA or other financial modeling software very desirable Strong mathematical and analytical skills along with willingness to learn actuarial and financial calculations Experience with of MS Excel, Access, VB/VBA, relational database concepts, SQL, FoxPro, desirable Ability to perform performance optimization and automation of solutions
