General Accountant

State Auto Insurance Company, an eighty-seven-year-old, A+ (Superior rated), multi-line, property-casualty insurance company has an opening for a General Accountant to work in the Columbus, Ohio, home office. The incumbent will work under the direction of a Financial Reporting Supervisor and is responsible for assisting in the booking and maintenance of the detail accounting records to support the financial position of the companies.  The General Accountant is responsible for following STAT and GAAP accounting principles in the performance of this job.

 

This position requires a associate or bachelor degree in accounting from an accredited college.  One to three years general accounting or bookkeeping experience is required.  Property and casualty insurance accounting experience preferred.  Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and related reporting requirements is necessary.  Introduction to statutory accounting principles is helpful.   Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills are required.
