Group Underwriter

Reviews, analyzes, and inspects group insurance contracts. Calculates benefits, rates, and the financial status of a company. Analyzes various rate plans utilizing a company’s claims history to determine the appropriate rate plan and benefits costs.

Complete proposals and renewals in a timely and accurate fashion. Discuss and negotiate resulting renewals and proposals with marketing and outside brokers. Gain complete understanding of alternate funding arrangements and product offerings. Enforce Underwriting Guidelines and adherence to the Underwriting Formula and able to answer in depth questions pertaining to them.  Major contributor to mentoring and training new underwriters as well as helping existing underwriters to hone their skills and abilities. Involved in ad hoc projects to determine profitability of experience rated business.

Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years work experience required. Secondary degree in Economics/ Finance/ Statistics preferred.
