Health Insurance Broker - Account Manager - Tampa

TITLE: ACCOUNT MANAGER

DIVISION: EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

REPORTS TO:

STATUS: FULL-TIME; EXEMPT

POSITION PURPOSE

1. Service assigned clients and prospective clients, market all employee benefit lines with numerous carriers, and to coordinate the workflow for the Producer with clerical staff, clients and carriers.

2. Make our client the best in our business.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist the Producer in gathering the necessary information regarding new/existing accounts and submits this information to the various carriers to obtain proposals.

2. Review the proposals received from the various carriers and make recommendations to the Producer, and then place these in a formal proposal presentation.

3. Conduct client presentations in the absence of the Producer.

4. Provide training to clients on Zywave tools (MyWave, DMW, HRconnection).

5. Coordinate the workflow for the Producer between the internal staff, clients and insurance carriers.

6. Effect changes in coverage as requested and needed by customer.

7. Direct a smooth transition from one carrier to another carrier.

8. Perform periodic service calls on all accounts and complete a report on a monthly basis.

9. Update all accounts on the agency management system when a change to a new carrier is made or a renewal is completed to maintain files.

10. Maintain awareness of new developments or changes with the various carriers and new Federal/State laws that may affect how our clients must administer their benefit programs, and communicate this information to clients and team members.

11. Develop and maintain a positive relationship and rapport with each insurance carrier to satisfy our clients’ needs and facilitate the processing of business.

12. Handle or refer all requests by our clients.

13. Act as a back up to the Producer with clients and carriers.

14. Support and coordinate workflows between Producers and Account Managers for client needs analysis.

15. Assist teams with coordination of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process: Gather information from clients, submit the proposal to chosen carriers, receive incoming information and check for accuracy. Create documents for the final proposal, make copies and bind.

16. Update Agency Management System database(s).

17. Review plan documents for accuracy.

18. Set-up and execute activities, and follow-up on renewal rate request letters.

19. Coordinate annual Schedule A and renewal requests.

20. Process experience claim reports and commission reports.

21. Assist with service/claim issues.

22. Utilize DMW and Broker Briefcase tools to support clients.

23. Perform miscellaneous administrative responsibilities such as word processing, preparing copies, creating envelopes and mailing labels. Other miscellaneous projects and tasks as needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Attend and complete any training sessions or assignments as required.

2. Perform other tasks on projects as needed/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. * High school diploma or equivalent degree and at least one year of experience in employee benefit account management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Florida agent’s license in Health and Life.

* Possess communication skills necessary to communicate with clients companies and prospects concerning employee benefit lines of coverage

* Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred, basic working knowledge required. Knowledge of Power Point preferred.

* Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, responsive and self-motivated.

* Team player and task oriented.

* Good communication skills and courteous telephone skills.
