JOB MISSION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing non-routine, moderately complex data and analytical activities in support of Actuarial Services, other corporate departments, external vendors, and clients. This position serves as a key resource to provide business managers with the data, analyses, and information they need to make key business decisions. A critical component is taking multiple, large, non-standardized datasets and turning them into one concise, well-formatted, informational dataset or tool. This is accomplished by making several complex joins and calculating standardized metrics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Works with business managers from various areas to understand and anticipate their informational needs
-Develops concise data marts that require advanced joins from multiple data sources.
-Develops standardized business metrics for formal and informal data marts published by Actuarial Services.
-Develops data to be used as the centralized source for data extraction and analysis.
-Provides support, including training and instruction to all clients with data, query, or report issues.
-Transforms external data into useful datasets as the source for analyses and presentations in the pursuit of new business.
-Transforms internal data into datasets for use by external vendors and clients.
-Develops and maintains standard processes, calculations and metrics.
-Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of the healthcare business application systems and table schemas.
-Develops a basic knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding.
- Works in a manner that is not disruptive to peers, supervisors and/or subordinates.
- Maintains regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at the employer s sole discretion.
- Maintains availability and willingness to work such days and hours as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
- Maintains availability and willingness to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs (if travel required).

Required Skills:
Skills:
- Proficiency with SQL, MS Excel and MS Access required. VB or Crystal Reports are preferred but not required.
- Effective understanding of claims knowledge, healthcare principles, and coding ability.
- Knowledge of ODBC links, star table schemas, and pivot tables are required. Data cube development is preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of healthcare principles and/or medical terminology strongly preferred.
