IT Architect
As Conseco expands its adoption of SOA for its technology platforms, the Customer Service & Web/Middleware Technology (CSWMT) department is seeking a results-driven, quick-learner, and dynamic Web and Middleware Architect. Responsibilities include technical architecture design and operations on application server and middleware based systems. This individual will be accountable for the functionality, performance, integrity and security of our enterprise application platforms which include Application Servers (WebSphere / Tomcat), Message Queue systems (IBM MQSeries, IBM WebSphere Message Broker), and Web Servers (IIS/IBM HTTP Server/Apache). This is a hands-on role which will require working closely with the application and administration teams to assist with inter-application integration, plus understanding various application interfaces. In addition to working with application teams, this individual will develop and implement best practices for managing the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the middleware environment for Conseco. Some of these activities will include, but are not limited to:? Develop an understanding of CSWMT applications and how those applications support end-user operations? Develop architectural plans for CSWMT applications, both from a deployment and an application architecture perspective? Provide technical consultation and support to CSWMT development and infrastructure teams on the design and implementation of CSWMT applications? Conduct research on emerging technologies and practices for the purpose of increasing business application effectiveness and development efficiency ? Ensure architectural processes within the Conseco Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and change management contain the appropriate controls for effective adherence to corporate standardsRequirements: ? Strong background in systems architecture and designo Deployment architecture and designo Multi-tiered application architecture and designo Diagramming (UML, lines and boxes, etc.) and documentation (i.e., Rational Unified Process 4+1) techniques for enterprise applications? Strong background in object-oriented J2EE development and design principles.o Enterprise application patterns and best practiceso Experience with Security (Access Mgmt/Provisioning/SSO) implementation, application integration, LDAP integration, and portal implementationo Exposure to Data, Object Modeling and ACORD insurance standards, is a plus.? Significant integration development experience.o Extensive experience with SOA-based, messaging, or EAI implementations; must be current with web services based techniques and standards such as WSDL, SOAP, and XML. UDDI would be a plus. o Strong background with MQSeries integration, development and trouble-shooting.o Experience with IBM MQSeries/Message Brokero Development and/or administration experience with WebSphere Message Broker with developing compute nodes in ESQL a plus.? Hands on expertise with the setup, configuration and testing of web servers and application servers, for distributed J2EE platform on Windows and Unix o Experience with monitoring, testing and optimizing system availability, scalability and performance. o Troubleshoot system resources and performance bottlenecks for web applications.? Background in the following technology areaso Experience with Application Service Management tools; such as CA-Unicenter, or TIvolio Web Servers: Apache Web Server; IBM IHS 1.3x, 2.x, 6.0; Microsoft IIS 5.x, 6.x; o Application Servers: IBM WebSphere 5.x, 6.x; Tomcat 5.x, Web Logic, JBoss.o Operating Systems: Windows Server 2000/2003, AIX or UNIX variant.o Scripting/Languages: UNIX Shell, Perl, VB Script, HTML, JavaScript, Java, XML, ANT, JACL.? Excellent Systems Analysis skills? Strong documentation and communication skills.? Ability to multi-task across numerous activities in a fast-paced environment? 4 to 6 years of development and/or architectural experience in an enterprise IT environment? B.S Degree in Computer Science or related field.?
