Insurance Assistant - Workers' Compensation
Description:The Tarrytown, NY office is seeking a full time Insurance Assistant to collaborate and work with Workers' Compensation Claims Case Managers in our Workers' Compensation Dept.Under moderate supervision, performs advanced level technical insurance office support functions which may require special knowledge and/or analytical skills. Regularly exercises independent judgment in interpreting policies, procedures, and regulations. Resolves problems of varying scope and complexity on own initiative. Sound analytical skills and the ability to perform detail work i.e., prepare reports, documents, exhibits, review bills etc. Excellent communications skills to interact with internal/external contacts and customers. Demonstrated sound judgment and initiative in working within corporate guidelines. Ability to recognize exceptions as they occur and seek help or resolve discrepancies on own.Qualifications:Proficiency with numbers and typing skills is required. Requires broad knowledge of advanced personal and mainframe computer applications, insurance practices/procedures/concepts, etc. Knowledge of internal department operations preferred. High school education or equivalent training, plus 1-3 years related technical insurance support work experience is required.Excellent communication skills are a must as the individual will work directly with injured workers, customers, and internal personnel on a daily basis. Previous claims experience, knowledge of Workers' Compensation forms and/or medical knowledge, i.e. medical billing a plus. Strong organizational and time management skills are needed to balance the many job duties of this position.
