Liability Claims Adjuster

Grocers Insurance, an Argonaut Group company, is the leading insurance underwriter of retail grocery stores in the U.S.  We are focused on protecting and improving the food retailing business through innovative, customized insurance and risk management services, and safeguarding clients from general and industry-specific loss exposures. 

 

Due to recent growth, we have a challenging opportunity for the right candidate, as an in-house Liability Claims Adjuster located in the Portland, Oregon office.  We are willing to train the right individual.

 

The primary responsibilities are:

· Analyze applicable coverage for all submitted claims and determine whether the loss falls within the policy coverage

· Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly to determine liability

· Interview involved parties

· Prepare correspondence and reports for file documentation

· Negotiate settlements

· Manage claims in litigation

· Insured and claimant communication

 

The experience requirements are:

· Bachelors degree, or equivalent relevant experience

· 2 plus years insurance experience, preferably in handling third party liability claims

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Strong written/verbal communication skills

· Must become a certified claims adjuster in applicable states within 6 months from date of hire

· Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required
