Mainframe Data Storage Technology Administrator

As part of a Storage Management team, provide mainframe storage technology administration and management.

Duties/Activities include:

- Provide technical expertise to implement, develop, support and maintain complex technical data storage-related software and hardware initiatives.
- Evaluates and analyzes new technical software and hardware products, including their effects on the configuration.
- Perform installation, maintenance and configuration of storage related software components
- Provide support for extended off-site and/or off-hours Disaster Recovery exercises
- Troubleshoot technical software and hardware problems and provide 24-hour on-call production problem resolution support
- Develop scripts to automate storage management tasks within the projects assigned
- Create/Maintain project plans for the projects assigned
- Provide periodic status reports to management
- Develop and/or maintain documentation for the storage and backup processes and procedures
- Provide knowledge transfer to the Operations and technical staff
- Identify and support quality improvement initiatives
- Meet service delivery metrics objectives to achieve or exceed established departmental goals

Required skills & Experience:

Working knowledge of the zOS operating systems in a JES3 environment
- Working knowledge and ability to administer mainframe tape related OEM products: CA1, HSC, FATS/FATR, MPST, PM2.
- Storage hardware and media capacity planning and reporting
- Tape media life-cycle management
- Working Knowledge of MVS JCL, TSO/ISPF, ISPF Dialog Authoring
- Participate in the disaster recovery planning, validation and support for Storage infrastructure components
- Installation, administration and management of zOS program products – e.g. SMS, HSM, DSS, Catalog Management etc.
- Installation and administration OEM program products – e.g. Catalog Solutions, FDR/CPK/DSF/SAR, FastVSAM, etc.
- New technology evaluations and recommendations
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the IBM mainframe storage administration / management environment
- Minimum of 4-year college degree

Optional (not mandatory) skills & Experience:

Programming in Rexx, Clist or assembler language, a plus.
Experience with EMC Symmetrix disk arrays, a plus.
Experience with SRDF, Timefinder and other EMC software, a plus.
SAS/ITRM experience is, also, a plus.

Other Notes:

The Service Delivery/ Storage Management team is responsible for the enterprise data storage technology. The team is comprised of staff in two locations - New Jersey and Georgia. This position is based in our New Jersey facility, and is responsible for the mainframe tape technology management and support.
