Job Category:IT/Software Development Company:Sentry Insurance Contact:Sue Kozisek Email:Apply by Email Reference Code:SK: WI Mainframe and .NET Programmer Analyst Responsibilities:Our Programmer Analysts are members of our Application Development team in Information Technology (IT).  IT is an integrated group of departments whose basic objective is to provide information, data processing, communications, process enhancements, and systems to support the business and management activities of Sentry. • Participates in the detailed identification and development of program and system specifications. • Provides input on cost analyses, systems and program design, testing, and maintenance and documentation of new and existing systems. • Responds to systems problems by analyzing the problem, formulating a solution, and changing or repairing the system to avoid costly interruption of services to users. • Performs other job-related duties requiring the same general knowledge, skills and degree of responsibility commensurate with assigned level. This particular position involves developing and supporting in-house business and insurance systems, using both COBOL on a mainframe the .Net framework for distributed computing.  This position also includes responsibility for supporting commercial software products including Fiserv Tracker and Applied Vision, and supporting integration between these systems and our in-house systems.Qualifications:• Bachelors Degree or equivalent education is required • 2-3 years previous application development experience • The successful candidate will enjoy working with a wide range of technology platforms, including IBM mainframe and VB.Net.  Experience with both platforms is preferred; willingness to learn and work on both is required. • Experience supporting commercial software packages is preferred but not required. • Strong business acumen is preferred, especially in understanding of insurance industry systems and knowledge of accounting principles.Compensation and Benefits Sentry's excellent benefits package is designed to meet today's most important needs.
