Marine Claims Adjuster

Manage outside consultants, field investigations and expert witnesses; audit and reconcile costs and fees.

• Resolve coverage issues.

• Ensure customer-focused service;

• Monitor legal and legislative activity and advise underwriters on potential risk factors, underwriting decisions and policy documentation.

• Identify legal issues, direct and manage attorneys in developing alternative settlement strategies or arriving at decisions to go to trial; manage litigated cases though the court system. Negotiate and propose settlements; develop strategies to contain costs.

Knowledge, Skill & Competency Requirements:

• Knowledge of claims handling procedures, philosophy, legal concepts, terminology, financial concepts for reserving, & determining losses, negotiation & settlement techniques.

• Analytical skills.

• Interpersonal & communication skills work effectively in a team environment by applying the Business Practices and Shared Values.

Job Requirements:

Fully qualified level, settling claims within authority without specific instructions. Under direction, designated to adjust most marine claims including those complicated by multiple issues. Position located in Seattle.
