JOB DESCRIPTION: SUMMARY:This position requires taking an active role in formulating and implementing state strategies through increased analysis and focus on competitor behaviors, marketplace dynamics, pricing segmentation and household level analysis. PRIMARY DUTIES:Develop and Implement Pricing, Filing, and Product strategies through: Analysis of competitor and industry data, production costs, loss data, competitive positions, underwriting / marketing programs, claim data, Interaction with Field staff and various Channels Interaction with IT/Systems, Regulatory Affairs, and ClaimNegotiate rate changes with various channels and formulate business review packages to document the rate changes. Respond to and coordinate state insurance department inquiries.Work closely with regional marketing team, travel the territory and build expertise on state assignment.Take an active role in the development of pricing practices across the Product Management regions eliminating redundancies and establishing consistency in processes.Ability to develop pro forma cost benefit analysis with some guidance.Recommend improvements to pricing policies, procedures and workflow, including handoffs with product processing, and filing/regulatory departments. EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:Minimum of 1-2 years experience.4-year college degree or equivalent experience. WORK EXPERIENCE:Self-directed. Solid knowledge of Personal Lines products and systems.Ability to interact with the field sales team, work with DOI and connections within the Industry to gather competitive intelligenceKnowledge of Pricing and Actuarial techniques.Strong organization and time management skills COMMUNICATION SKILLS:Strong oral and written communication skills. COMPUTER SKILLS:Solid knowledge of Excel, Access and Word. OTHER:Analyze and interpret rates, data and trends.Understands basic actuarial concepts such as loss development and trending.Solid understanding of competitive analysis tools. Able to extract and analyze competitive data.Understanding of basic ratemaking and its application, such as profitability, risk loads, etc. Solid understanding of techniques and models used to forecast insurance financials. Provides forecasts as needed.Understands and is able to access available sources of Travelers and Industry trend informationSolid understanding of, and good working relationships with, claim, the business centers, the call centers, and information technology. Understands the workflow and terminology of these areas and their impact on PL.
