Marketing Representative

The Colony Group, a member of the Argo Group, is an A IX rated excess and surplus (E&S) insurance company.  Colony offers excess and surplus (E&S) insurance to business that generally cannot purchase insurance from standard lines insurers due to the perceived risks related to their businesses. Focusing on small to medium sized premium accounts, Colony Professional Liability offers coverage for social services, miscellaneous health care facilities, long term care, lawyers, insurance agents, real estate agents and environmental risks.

 

Colony currently has a challenging opportunity for a Marketing Representative located in the Richmond, VA office. This enthusiastic, self-motivated individual will be part of a team-oriented working environment

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for implementing a dynamic marketing strategy to meet organizational objectives with emphasis on enhancing the value of our client relationships and developing additional profitable business.  Evaluates customer research, market conditions, competitor data and actively engages the underwriting departments in advancing a sales-oriented and client-focused approach to agency management.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Agency & distribution management, Eastern U.S.

o  Interactions with agents and managing the relationships

o  New appointments and terminations

o  Business unit expansions and terminations

o  Interacts with Underwriting to enhance the distribution platform

o  Coordinates travel for underwriting staff traveling to Eastern U.S.

· Event Management

o  UW Seminars - planning and implementation (observe in ‘08, lead in ’09)

o  Manage NAPSLO and AAMGA scheduling calendars.

· Communication

o  Provide support to underwriting in creation of bulletins, flyers, other collateral

o  Create and deliver quarterly production reports and correspondence to our clients

· Support/Partnership

o  Provide updates to the monthly Flash report (as assigned) annual

o  Provide assistance to Corporate Underwriting department assistance  (as assigned)

o  Actively participate on Argo Group Marketing Round Table (MRT)

· Travel requirements

o  Agency Visitation – Based on Agency Volume (approximately 25%)

§ WP > $2M – 2/year

§ All Other – 1/year

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor's degree and 5 years minimum underwriting or other relevant experience.

· Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

· Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

· Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

· Self-motivated
