Blue Shield of California (BSC) is seeking a Network Specialist for our NetworkManagement Team in our San Francisco office.

The Network Specialist will play a central role in managing provider networks,benefits, and operations related to external vendors, and support the ancillaryand specialty networks contracting team in servicing our network providers. Thisposition provides the unique opportunity to be involved with strategicdepartments across the organization and to be responsible for vital aspects ofvendor relationships and contract management.

This individual will be a key member of the Ancillary and Specialty NetworksTeam. This team is responsible for contracting with individual and statewideproviders to complement our hospital and physician networks. The position willdirectly support the management of our vendors that support the authorizationfor high cost imaging services and pricing support of our home infusion network.

Job Responsibilities:

Develops, negotiates, implements and maintains comprehensive statewide ancillaryprovider networks.

Works with other team members to meet member and provider service requirements,including problem resolution. Schedules regular meetings with vendors,identifies and addresses services issues and maintains ongoing communications.

Supports vendor contract management including delegation oversight, ongoingmeasurement of performance standards, network access and availability,compliance with BSC policies and procedures, and general regulatory,accreditation, and BCBS Association compliance.

Analyzes monthly claims paid data and develops standard utilization and costreports including trend analysis, variance from budget, and benchmarking.

Provides cross functional internal education of ancillary vendors, providernetworks and their various operations.

Bachelor's degree and three years related experience and/or training orequivalent combination of education and experience.

Thorough knowledge of the health care industry and managed care deliverysystems.

Strong financial negotiating skills.
