Health Benefits Direct Corporation is a publicly traded, fast-growing South Florida-based insurance agency licensed in 50 states. Our Finance & Accounting department is looking for a full-time Lead Payroll Administrator to join our growing team in order to assist in the development and administration of payroll activities. The team currently consists of a Payroll Clerk, File Clerk, A/P Clerk, Lead A/P Administrator, Junior Accountant, Sr. Staff Accountant, Assistant Controller, Controller and CFO.
The Senior Payroll Administrator will work directly with the Assistant Controller and have an interaction with all departments, such as HR, Sales, IT and management within the organization to develop and implement policies and controls and reconciliation of all compensation. This is an excellent developmental opportunity with exposure to SEC reporting and Sarbanes Oxley. Job Overview
The Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for directing all payroll activities, developing and monitoring all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization’s payroll processing objectives, including relationships with ADP, external auditors and state and federal agencies.
Job Responsibilities
Managing and coordinating the production of biweekly, monthly and special compensation for approximately 200 employees and 25 external agents.Processing and coordinating payments for 401(k) and other employee benefits plans. Managing overhead allocation and payroll account distributions.Responding to employee and management payroll issues. Managing all facets of the daily timekeeping operations of the company.Taking care of issuance of special checks on a daily basis.Identifying trends and/or issues and developing processes to address the issues.Ensuring compliance with current government regulations.Maintaining records of federal and states reports for proof of payment of required taxes and reconciling workers compensation payments.Planning, coordinating, and overseeing the production and distribution of all employees’ and independent agents’ tax statements (W-2’s & 1099’s) and notifications as required by law.Participating in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, such as garnishments, PTO and other employee benefits matters.Managing the development, implementation and administration of all payroll files and records.Reviewing and disbursing costs and productivity reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly and/or as requested.Preparing accruals and reconciling sub-ledger to the general ledger.Supervision of junior payroll staff.Participates with the Finance Team in the preparation of budgets and variance analysis.Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Candidate Experience and Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years’ of payroll experience.BS Degree in accounting or finance preferred.An Associate’s Degree from an accredited school and equivalent training is required.CPP designation is valuable.ADP and EzLaborManager experience preferred (not required) but experience with payroll service providers is required.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, & Outlook applications is required.Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills required. Able to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks, work as part of a team as well as independently.Personal initiative, self-disciplined, strong work ethic, and analytical skills are highly valued. This position requires periodic O/T.
