Physician Medical Consultant

At Unum, our people truly make a difference, both in the lives of our customers and in the success of our company. Principle Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides timely and accurate medical analysis and opinions to the Benefits Operations staff. Participates in the various lines medical risk management activities Conducts 1-on-1 and group training to improve the Benefits Operations staff's knowledge and efficiency. Interacts with the insured's attending healthcare provider Does special projects Performs Additional Information File reviews. May perform other duties as assigned Professional Degree (MD or DO) Residency trained Board certified Active, unrestricted US license Greater than seven years clinical experience in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, General Medicine, Orthopedic Medicine, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease, Psychology, or PM & R. Experience in private disability insurance or other corporate environment preferred Analytical skills appropriate to private insurance environment Familiar with or willing to learn electronic medical recordkeeping systems Excellent oral and written communications skills Excellent interpersonal/negotiation skills
