Programmer Analyst (COBOL Focus)

Primary Purpose

Fulfill IS Department and Major Business Project objectives by evaluating, documenting, building, implementing and supporting business application systems. This will be accomplished by using a customer centric approach that strives to creatively and continually improve business processes with software technology and tools. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

·  Review, analyze, design, create, modify and support existing business applications along with their related data interfaces and reports.

·  Research and design efficient user interfaces and intuitive software navigation.

·  Perform quality checks on completed application development solutions.

·  Forecast time required for assigned project and maintenance tasks.

·  Complete responsibilities according to collaborated timelines.

·  Solve software and business process challenges with a certain degree of ingenuity. Qualifications

Required:

·  A Bachelor’s Degree with focus in the computer related field AND/OR a minimum of 5 years application development experience and 5 years Insurance industry experience.

·  Strong knowledge and experience with the following (but not limited to) application development tools; COBOL, Visual Basic, MS-SQL, Oracle Database (10g), SQL and PL/SQL scripting.

Preferred:

·  A background with any or all of the following application development tools; HTML, JavaScript, MS Access, VISIO.

·  Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
