Quality Assurance Technician II

 

Position Summary:The position is responsible for developing and executing functional tests using automated test tools to quality assure new or modified applications/systems, primarily in a web-based environment.  This position is also responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase QA test coverage. This position also develops and executes test suites, provides input into the quality processes and continually improves the effectiveness and efficiency of testing within the Information Technology team.  The Quality Assurance Technician actively participates in certifying the level of quality of Citizen’s ePAS system and other related applications prior to release.  As a part of the QA team, the Quality Assurance Technician works with a variety of groups across multiple departments to improve, streamline, integrate, and communicate the build, test, deployment and release cycles for all applications.

 

 

Essential Functions:  

 

· Develops and implements strategy to increase QA test coverage utilizing automated testing tools.

· Develops and executes test plans to verify the adherence to the company’s software development process and requirement/functional specifications.

· Generates test reports including results of testing and product stability, including recommendations concerning the release of the product.

· Assists in completion of product documentation and training material.

· Assess and estimate test requirements based on use case and other requirement documentation.

· Prepare test approach, plans, procedures, data and test script automation.

· Execute tests and identify, communicate and track issues to closure.

· Prepares test data and test environment.

· Supports the implementation effort.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

· 3-5 years of experience in enterprise level Quality Assurance testing activities, web-based applications a plus.

· Bachelor’s Degree in related area or equivalent related technical experience.

· Software test experience in developing test strategies, test cases and creating scripts.

· Testing experience in a large scale relational database environment (DB2 preferred).

· Ability to work from functional specifications to write test plans.

· Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Hands-on technical skills that allow the ability to perform QA and apply assurance best practices.

· Property and Casualty Insurance testing experience preferred.

· Experience in Mercury Tools: QuickTest Pro and/or WinRunner, TestDirector and/or QualityCenter, LoadRunner or similar tools for GUI automation testing, test management and load/stress Testing.



 

 

Other Requirements: 

 

This position requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, hear and converse over the telephone, and key frequently on a computer (2 or more hours per day).  Position also requires frequent overnight travel.
