#6625 - TCM SOA Implementation Manager

 

Transamerica Life Insurance Company, an AEGON company, is a leader in the worldwide insurance industry for over 40 years.  We are an international pension, insurance and financial services organization.  Transamerica Life Insurance is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where approximately 3500 individuals are employed. 

 

This position is responsible for directing a staff of ten in providing high quality Architecture, Integration Competency Center, and Application DBA services to our departmental and divisional customers.  Success in this position demands effective technical and cultural leadership that maintains our momentum in evolving toward an SOA enabled environment.

 

Responsibilities 

·  Ability to effectively facilitate cross functional collaborative discussions that result in balanced solutions meeting both today’s needs as well as supporting our 3 year Business Roadmap.

·  Plan and allocate resources with management assistance.

·  Resolve daily priority issues; follow through on commitments.

·   Communicate expectations to staff on a regular basis.

·  Understand your area and how it fits into the entire TS flow. 

·  Provide support to staff in analysis, development, or testing efforts as needed. 

·  Manage resource performance on projects. 

·  Support Project Manager with updates and resource management.

·  Superior verbal and written communication skills. 

·  Excellent negotiation and persuasive skills.

·   Superior problem solving skills. 

·  Ability to resolve most of the system and procedural problems of the department. 

·  Excellent analytical skills. 

·  Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

·  Must be a team player. 

·  Ability to work independently. 

 

 Qualifications 

·  4-year computer science or business degree or equivalent experience. 

·  Generally a minimum of 8 years work experience.

·  Strong track record of managing cross platform (J2EE, Cobol, Oracle, DB2) based enterprise development efforts and teams.

·  Solid background in SOA (ideally implemented an enterprise SOA architecture)

·  Architectural background and experience in technically diverse environment

·  Knowledge of Object-oriented analysis, design, and implementation 

·  Rational Unified Process

·  UML and software modeling practices

·  SOA/Web Service Technologies including SOAP and WSDL

·  Mainframe and COBOL programming

·  Integration technologies like Sun JCAPS, SeeBeyond ICAN, CTG, MQSeries, etc.

·  Financial Services or Insurance industry experience.

 

 

The salary range for this position is $71,000.00-$95,000.00-$119,000.00.
