Overall
Develop and implement strategies to retain and grow mid-size and large groupmembership of ancillary products (dental, vision, life, stop-loss) to new andexisting medical customers and new and existing non-medical customers.
Operating Income
Support the Ancillary Group Sales Director by taking responsibility forachieving new sales and retention goals, in support of meeting operating incometargets.
New Sales and Retention
Develop and implement sales strategies, business plans, and distributiondevelopment plans to meet/exceed annual product membership targets including newsales, retention and in-group growth.
Distribution
Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing mid-size and largegroup distribution partners including: Blue Shield Medical salesrepresentatives, producers, consultants, general agents and new and prospectiveclients.
Internal management
Coordinate proposal responses among BSC internal partners from product,marketing and underwriting to respond to requests for new and renewal business.Participate in implementation of larger groups in concert with operations teams.
Service
Train service teams on best practices to address administration issues.Facilitate and respond to escalated service issues. Stay informed of serviceissues and resolution progress for key accounts and the distribution channelsthat serve these accounts.
Competitive Intelligence
Develop and maintain competitive intelligence on all product lines within themid-size and large group market segment. Actively solicit information oncompetitive product design, pricing and programs of target competitors. Developtools to communicate competitive positioning to distribution.
Training
Lead projects that develop the skills and motivation of Blue Shield medicalsales representatives, producers, consultants and general agents to increasesales of dental, vision, life and stop-loss products. Track performance ofindividual sales representatives and develop interventions when necessary.Represent the mid-size and large group line of business on various salesinitiatives and at medical sales team meetings.
Marketing
Collaborate on the development and analysis of sales contests and marketingprograms for sales representatives and brokers. Participate on teams to developnew programs, products, collateral and services
Travel
Travel within California (approximately 25%)
Bachelor's degree and five years successful sales or account managementexperience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of insurance products, group renewal and sales processes andprocedures.
Excellent oral communication, writing and presentation skills.
Desired Experience
Demonstrated experience making presentations to health plan distributionchannels and/or customer teams in mid-size and large groups.
Excellent skills building customer relationships and influencing others,including team members functioning in a matrix organization
Passionate about managing customer relationships including mid-size and largegroups and the producers, consultants and general agents who sell to them.
Excellent follow-up, planning, and organization skills with a penchant formeeting deadlines.
Good computer and related software skills (including all components of MicrosoftOffice)
Team player with a cooperative attitude toward doing what’s best for thecustomer. Comfortable playing a supportive, but critical, role on large teams.
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Experience managing mid-size and large groups in the healthcare industry a plus.
Mid-size and large group underwriting experience a plus.
