Sales Trainee / Sales Associate
MetLife, a leading provider of insurance and other financial services to individual and institutional customers, is seeking a Sales Trainee / Sales Associate in Charlotte, NC!! Major Duties and Functions Include: This is primarily a training position, under the direct supervision of Manager or Senior Staff. Works effectively with a seasoned sales professional who serves as a mentor in educating the trainee to the various product and services offered by MetLife. This will involve meetings with the mentor and his/her customers, brokers, and consultants. Responsible for developing core understanding of the Employee Benefit Sales Product Group and Sales competencies. Products include one or more of the following Employee Benefit Sales products: Disability, Dental, and Life. Responsible for learning the basic financial drivers of the Employee Benefit Sales Business and Product lines. Successfully complete sales training curriculum. Provides post-sale service and interaction with clients. Resolves escalated service issues. Generates reports to track/report activities, progress, and strategies. Supports the sales office in achieving sales goals by meeting with brokers, making sales calls, and assisting the Sales Executives with their territories. Knowledge on MetLife’s business processes, including claims processing and underwriting rules and procedures. Complete knowledge of all products offered by MetLife in the mid-large market. Proficient in MetLife computer applications, including MetFacs2, Sales Radar, My Benefits, Met Link, and MetDental.com. May assist in or be the leader of MetLife team facilitating account implementations. The ability to obtain {or possess} FINRA Series 6 & 63 and Life, Accident and Health and state life licenses is required. Remains up to date with continued education requirements to ensure maintenance of required licensing and registration requirements. Ability to travel. Manages expenses according to company guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned or required. What You Need to Succeed: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience. 0-2 years of related work experience, entry level position. Proficiency in Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Knowledgeable on primary product offerings, contract, tools and technology. Knowledge of the MetLife organization, history, core values, client and competitive landscape. Knowledge of MetLife’s service platform, processes and operations. Understands the core selling skills to respond to leads and deliver client-centric solutions. Creates contact with the client to understand their business, build rapport, and to manage and communicate expectations. Work shouldn’t be something you do just to make ends meet.
