Position is responsible for GAAP and Statutory financial reporting and analysis in the Institutional Business. Non-Medical Health and Other segment to support Institutional Business and Corporate financial reporting requirements. The position will be responsible for supporting the Dental product and will be involved in the integration of the Safeguard business into MetLife. Major Duties and Functions Include: Position will report to Director of Institutional Business Statutory Accounting and Legal Entity Reporting. Position is responsible for supporting financial reporting and analysis of MetLife Institutional Business monthly/quarterly financial results for both GAAP and Statutory accounting bases. Responsibilities include support in closing monthly/quarterly ledger and analysis of income statement and balance sheet including comparison to prior periods and projected/plan results. Analysis of financial statements includes consolidation of Institutional segment results including written analysis of Quarterly Financial Supplement (QFS), Management Discussion and Analysis and other required analysis of financial statements. In addition, responsibilities include written analysis of quarterly Statutory results for both the income statement and balance sheet. Position will also be responsible for other special projects and ad-hoc management requests, and includes coordination of monthly metrics reports.Principle Responsibilities: Written consolidation of Institutional Business GAAP/Statutory financial results including both income statements and balance sheets. Partner with Institutional Business Segment Directors and CFO organization to complete consolidated written analysis of Quarterly Financial Supplement, MD&A, analytic reviews, etc. Provide support for variances through documentation of MD&A, QFS, etc. Partner with Financial Operations organization to provide product-level operating earnings and variance support necessary for their SEC, GAAP and Statutory legal entity and/or consolidated reporting & filings. Responsible for assisting in completion of Statutory/GAAP reconciliations, financial statement footnotes, financial surveys and other ad-hoc management reporting requirements. Position will also support completion of actual to projected/plan results analysis on a monthly/quarterly basis. What You Need to Succeed: Education: BA/BS in Accounting or Finance, MBA or CPA is a plus 3 + years experience with an accounting or finance background with strong accounting skills. Strong analytic and interpersonal skills Strong written and verbal communications Ability to assume ownership of specific functions and/or products; and to lead and manage multiple tasks Ability to work independently as well as partner with others as a team Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint Ability to learn and utilize various accounting ledger applications for reporting and analysis.
