We are currently looking for a Senior Information Systems Specialist - Business Intelligence Reporting. Please read on for more details regarding this position. JOB DESCRIPTION: This position can be filled in either Hartford, CT or St Paul, MN SUMMARY: The Enterprise Governance and Managing IS team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cognos developer with previous Cognos Framework and report development experience. These skills will be instrumental to enhancing and moving forward the DataMart and reporting initiative currently underway . This position can be filled in either -- Hartford,CT or St. Paul,MN. PRIMARY DUTIES: - Assist in defining and enhancing the Cognos reporting architecture - Design and develop Cognos packages using Framework Manager- Design and develop Enterprise Reports using Cognos Report writer - Define and evolve best practices for reporting architecture - Coordinate performance tuning necessary to meeting Service Level Agreements - Work closely with the corporate product support area (e.g. product review, product upgrades and product optimization - Mentor and help team members learn application in order to support the environment REQUIRED SKILLS: - Must have solid understanding and experience with building applications using Cognos 8.2.- Must have solid understanding and experience with Oracle 9.i or higher and PL SQL - Experience with Framework Manager modeling- Experience with Query Studio and Report Studio is a plus- Exposure and familiarity of the following: Metric Studio, Event Studio, Analysis Studio- Experience with dimensional modeling and reporting- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate with team members and customers - 4-6 years full-life cycle applications development experience - Ability to work with very little supervision. Must possess a high-level of attention to details OTHER SKILLS AND JOB FUNCTIONS: - Prepare or assist with technical specifications as required - Develop accurate and complete estimates. - Develop detailed level task plans and prioritize work units as required - Follows established processes to ensure quality of deliverables & compliance with standards. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: The ideal candidate will possess a solid knowledge of Business Intelligence design and implementation, have 4-6 years of experience. At least 2 of the years with COGNOS and relational database experience (Oracle). General PC skills: MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access), PowerPoint, Outlook, Lotus Notes, Internet Explorer COMPETENCIES: Initiative: Is able to operate with minimal direction from others. Self Management: Sets appropriate goals and priorities. Effectively able to multi-task and complete multiple tasks in the time allocated to accomplish results. Accurately evaluates and estimates new tasks. Provides management with accurate and timely status information. Consistent willingness to extend self to obtain results.
