Senior JAVA Programmer Analyst #6496

Exciting opportunities for IT professionals. AEGON Financial Partners, a division of the AEGON companies currently has an opening for Senior Level Java programmer analysts to develop web applications. These positions will be located in either Cedar Rapids, IA or St. Petersburg, FL.

 

We are seeking motivated individuals with experience in the development of insurance and financial services applications.

 

This position will be located in the AEGON Financial Partners (AFP) division. AFP provides operations, information technology, legal and finance support to agents and independent producers who market the companies' life insurance and investment products.

 

 Responsibilities 

*  Develops specifications for new and existing systems.

*  Designs, codes, tests, and documents programs and sub-systems.

*  Designs systems, sub-systems or program.

*  Coordinates with co-workers, clients, operations, technical support, and vendors.

*  Interfaces with clients to determine requirements, resolve problems, and perform testing.

*  Analyzes system and program requirements.

*  Solves problems with systems and programs.

*  Performs training services.

*  Prepares presentations.

*  Provides direction on projects and requires minimal supervision. 

 

 Qualifications 

 *  Minimum of 3 years web or client-side application development experience.

*  Prefer a minimum of 4 years software development experience with Java.

*  Database development experience with Oracle, SQL Server or DB2.

*  Large-scale application architecture and development experience required.

*  High proficiency with object-oriented development methodologies.

*  Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying Service Oriented Architecture principles.

*  Experience developing synchronous and asynchronous messaging transactions.

*  General knowledge of database design and object development, including stored procedures and triggers.

*  Experience with XML and related technologies (XML Schema, XSLT, SOAP)

*  Experience in client-side development markup languages (HTML, XHTML) and scripting languages (JavaScript).

*  Experience developing testing scenarios for developed code.

*  Experience mentoring other developers.

*  Excellent verbal and writing skills, particularly the ability to write and explain technical specifications documentation.

*  Experience writing technical documentation and design documents.

*  BS or MS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience

*  Insurance industry experience is desirable.

*  Experience with Websphere Studio Application Developer or Rational Application Developer.

*  Understanding of J2EE Web Based applications and the software development lifecycle

*  Knowledge of common Java libraries, including: Struts, Hibernate, Spring, Axis, Jakarta Commons and Log4J.

Pay Range: Commensurate with experience.
