Senior Litigation Examiner

The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies is currently seeking a Senior Litigation Examiner to join its downtown Chicago team.

 The Senior Litigation Examiner will:

• Manage claims in multiple jurisdictions

• Use strong knowledge of claim investigations, complex litigation, insurance contracts and industry trends to make recommendations on key cases

• Maintain well documented file notes and hard file documentation

• Use strong knowledge of coverage grant, conditions, and exclusions to identify issues and resolve complex, ambiguous, and/or contentious coverage disputes

• Evaluate complex damages and liability exposures and set accurate and timely reserves

• Direct and control claim litigation management expenses

• Manage claim inventory with minimal supervision

• Share information and knowledge, and assist peers and staff with technical skill development

• Serve as a technical resource for claims staff and administrative managers and supervisors

• Assist on project management responsibilities where needed.

• Effectively prepare for and present claims to senior management on individual claims and in claim committees when appropriate and/or assist others in their preparation

• Adhere to all regulations and Unfair Claims Practices Acts

• Some travel may be required

 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Articulate in written and oral communication

• Demonstrated ability to deliver high caliber customer claim service

• Advanced listening and negotiation skills

• Advanced knowledge and attention to detail in insurance coverage and contracts, in investigating complex claims, applying applicable laws, and setting timely and accurate reserves

• Advanced organizational skills in managing own inventory under minimal supervision

• Appreciation for corporate objectives and the ability to incorporate them into strategy and analysis of claims related issues

• Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with a wide spectrum of people internally and externally

• Ability to interface with senior management on claim information on specific losses

• Encourages others to discuss, and consider new ideas and perspectives and solutions to claim issues

• Strong proficiency as team player

• Adaptable to changing expectations

• Must obtain and maintain necessary licenses
