We are one of the leading insurance companies in the United States.  Our superior financial strength and consistent record of strong operating returns mean security for our customers - and opportunities for our employees.  You will find Travelers to be full of energy and a workplace in which you truly can make a difference. We are currently looking for a Senior Paralegal.  Please read on for more details regarding this position. JOB DESCRIPTION: SUMMARYAssist attorneys in all aspects of legal case preparation and file management including moderate to advanced legal research, drafting routine to complex documents and collection of information relevant to cases.  Conduct investigations through personal interviews.  Review and analyze various reports, responses and records.  Determine scope, direction and depth of legal research on assigned projects.  May prepare case summaries, medical record summaries, pleadings, discovery responses, affidavits and other legal documents. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESConduct moderate to complex legal research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions and legal codes to prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, etc. for use by attorney.Draft routine or complex legal documents for review and use by attorneys.Prepare exhibits and other demonstrative evidence for use at trial.Categorize and interpret data; review and analyze reports, responses and records produced by opposing counsel.Compile and prepare draft discovery responses.Prepare medical record summaries.Conduct investigations as needed and directed.Coordinate requests between multiple parties involved in litigation.Assist attorneys in preparation of witnesses for deposition and/or trial.Participate in special administrative and legal research projects as requested. EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCEAssociate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-certified program required.Minimum 7 yrs. experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant required, with litigation experience strongly preferred. OTHERSuperior grammar and writing skills;Knowledge of law office procedures and local court/jurisdiction rules and procedures;Resourceful research and analytical skills;Professional demeanor and appearance;Professional and courteous interpersonal skills;Proficient in Microsoft Word;Experienced with Microsoft Outlook and Excel;Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;Ability to manage time and tasks effectively;Able to maintain strict confidentiality. In addition to an exciting environment, we offer: * Competitive base salary with additional opportunities for variable pay through recognition programs and incentive awards * 401(k) with company match* Comprehensive health plans that include coverage for same sex/domestic partners* Strong work/family and employee assistance programs* Tuition reimbursement * Vacation Purchase Plan* Training/Development opportunities We are proud to provide comprehensive, high quality employee programs to meet employees' needs now and in the future, including a very competitive financial package.
