Senior Quality Assurance Analyst
Our client is looking for a QA professional with the ability to develop processes/procedures and provide support to other testers while fulfilling hands on testing responsibilities. There is no automated testing tool suite (ie Mercury, Winrrunner) used; all the testing is manual and very systems/data heavy. The main policy administration application is Java based and runs on a Linux platform. The QA team is responsible for testing several proprietary applications and are a key part of the SDLC.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the development and execution of test plans (including requirements traceability matrix, cases and scripts) that ensure conformance to specification and customer satisfaction. Testing can include new products, system enhancements, modifications, system upgrades, and code fixes reaching production. The Sr. Quality Assurance Analyst should be experienced with the set up and usage of various testing tool kits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans and executes the successful running of test cycles, including all peripheral systems.
- Enters necessary transactions for testing as provided by the Business Systems Analyst
- Configures and manages testing environments and test data.
- Researches errors during cycle with developers.
- Works closely with build manager to determine what is testable.
- Communicates test output to customer.
- Manages defects coming in from customer.
- Communicates status of defects to customer.
- Deploys tested and approved code to production environment from build created by build manager.
- Documents and updates status of Change Control Requests, issues, etc. in management system.
- Performs production test cycle when applicable.
- Verifies approval of Production Change Requests from Change Control Board and approval from carrier for deployment.
- Communicates release notes to customer.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- Maintain and promote company values and culture.
- Adheres to policies and procedures within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Essential skills include:
1. Knowledge of testing, testing methodologies and disciplines.
2. Junior level system development skills.
3. Ability to work within both Windows and Linux, using a command line interface in a shell environment.
4. Understands quality standards for own work, detail-oriented.
Beneficial skills include:
1. Familiar with the insurance industry and general insurance policy concepts.
2. Proven ability to use differencing software.
3. Familiar with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

EDUCATION AND EXPEREICNE:
- Requires a bachelor degree in related field or six years professional work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of systems quality analysis and testing or similar work experience.
- Ideal candidate will have attained an industry recognized software quality assurance certification (CSQA, CSTE, ISTQB, etc.)
