Senior SQL DBA Are you a motivated and talented Senior SQL DBA? If so, we want to speak with you! Safeco Insurance is currently seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA to provide technical leadership for the Database Team. Successful candidates will provide support for multiple SQL Server databases within the organization. Candidate should be comfortable dealing with complicated and non-standard break-fixes for which standard support is not sufficient. Periodic on-call/off-hours duties are part of this position. Ability to work under pressure and deliver on deadline is a must. As a member of the team, the candidate is expected to work alongside fellow DBAs and to help others on as needed basis as well to ask for help when appropriate. Position Specific Requirements 7+ solid years of Microsoft SQL and/or Oracle DBA experience in a multi-database environment, with in-depth industry knowledge of one or both Microsoft SQL Server 2000/05 and Oracle (9i+) SQL Server 2000/2005 Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) Oracle (9i+) Database Administrator - Certified Professional/Certified Master certification a big plus Experience running and supporting large scale database environments (1+ TB size) under high transaction volumes. Experience installing, configuring, and supporting SQL Server databases Experience monitoring database exports, table space, and extents reports. Knowledge of SQL Server internals, performance tuning, upgrading database application software, completing database replication, data backup and recovery procedures. Strong in TSQL and reviewing stored procedures/dynamic SQL for better performance. Demonstrated expertise in Query Optimization and Tuning, including cross database and cross server queries. Ability to configure, install, and maintain multiple database instances. Experience creating and supporting Log Shipping and Active/Active and Active/Passive clustered environments. Understanding of multi-tier architectures from a conceptual level 24x7, on call support experience. Proven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem resolution Ability to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment Mid-level Windows system administration skills Some UNIX system administration skills Basic LAN and WAN network knowledge Excellent written and oral communication skills Motivated self-starter personality; must be able to work independently of supervision but be a willing and contributing participant on cross-functional team Other Requirements Minimum of Bachelors degree in computer science or related field MCDBA certification is a plus Experience implementing ITIL best practices is required and a certification is a plus Experience with Microsoft Reporting Services, Analysis Services and SharePoint Portal is required.
