Software Testing Analyst

The Midland Company and its A+ rated property & casualty insurance subsidiary, American Modern Insurance Group, are looking for an experienced Software Testing Analyst. We are a proven provider of specialty insurance products and services, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Key Job Responsibilities: Utilize and support Hewlett- Packard's (formerly Mercury Interactive's) testing suite of applications, including QuckTest Pro/WinRunner, LoadRunner, and TestDirector. Work with developers to create and execute integration/system test plans and test cases for open systems and mainframe applications. Develop, maintain and execute automated test cases to support regression testing. Develop, maintain and execute performance test scripts for open systems and mainframe applications. Work closely with Network Services and Development to evaluate and improve the performance of the applications in all environments to which they are employed. Develop and maintain "start-of-day" scripts to ensure all system components are available. Develop and maintain scripts to monitor system availability throughout the day and automatically send alerts to appropriate IT support personnel when any system components become unavailable. Estimate time and resource requirements for thorough testing of the applications. Coordinate with Project Management to include testing milestones in the project plans. Publish project reports. Perform manual testing where automation does not yet exist or is not practical. Work with the Configuration Management and Development groups to include regression test scripts in the automated build and deploy scripts. Enter defects into TestDirector Monitor defects logged into TestDirector to direct testing efforts and update defect statuses after test cases are successfully executed. Establish, track, and report quality metrics to measure code stability and quality.

Experience
Required:

• 2-4 Years of experience in software testing.
• 3-5 Years of experience in software development/engineering.
• 2 Years networking experience in a mainframe and PC/Server environment.
Preferred:

• Experience using and Administering Windows XP Workstation
• Automated testing tool experience - preferably HP's (formerly Mercury Interactive's) WinRunner and or QuickTest Pro/LoadRunner/TestDirector suite.

• Knowledgeable of PC hardware, operating systems and applications
• Able to organize and integrate complex business activities
• Skills to effectively communicate technical ideas to all users
• Analytical skills to gather and interpret data
• Ability to be flexible in performing variety of duties requiring quick transition from one to another
• Able to see keyboard and monitor screen
• Able to type on a computer keyboard
Preferred:

• Knowledge of P&C Insurance Industry
Education
Required:

• 4-year degree required or equivalent experience
Preferred:

• BS in Computer Technology preferred
