Statistical Analyst

The Midland Company, a highly focused provider of specialty insurance products and services is seeking a Statistical Analyst who is interested in joining our Statistical Unit. This position is located in the corporate headquarters in Amelia, Ohio.

The key job responsibilities of a Statistical Analyst include responsibility of the DMV reporting system to ensure the company is in compliance with industry reporting requirements.  This position will compile and submit data to various statistical agents (e.g. PCI, ISO, TICO, DMV) and state insurance departments to meet industry reporting requirements.  The Statistical Analyst will also participate in regulatory conferences.  This position will analyze insurance regulations, legislation, and bulletins. 

A strong background in insurance concepts with an emphasis on Casualty insurance is required.  Prior experience working with insurance regulatory agencies and exposure to commercial and property lines insurance is also required.  Qualified candidates must be accurate, organized, motivated, team-oriented, and willing to take initiative.

 

1-3 years of experience working with insurance regulatory agencies is preferred.  Experience reviewing and interpreting insurance laws and regulations is also preferred.

 

Qualified candidates must have strong MS Excel and Access skills and exposure to data analysis tools (i.e. Cognos, Oracle).  Demonstrated analytical/problem solving abilities, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for the Statistical Analyst position.

 

A Bachelor's Degree is required.  Completion of insurance designations/coursework is preferred (i.e. INS series or CPCU).
