Statutory Reporting Manager / Supervisor

This position is manages a team of 8 accounting and finance professionals in Investments Financial Management, responsible for the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory reporting. (Schedule D). Additional responsibilities include the implementation of controls to ensure accurate financial reporting, overseeing special projects, managing audit requests internal and external, hiring of staff and conducting annual performance reviews. Major Duties and Functions Include: Ensure the reconciliation of CAMRA sub ledger balances to Peoplesoft ledger balances in the STAT ledger Ensure that deadlines, metrics and controls related to STAT are adhered to Manage the preparation of statutory reporting and other related filings presented in the Company's Statutory Filings (e.g., annual statements) Oversight of special projects such as system testing, automated reconciliation, and other process improvements, as needed Align resources and motivate staff to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization Staff development, training, cross-training, hiring and performance reviews What You Need to Succeed: Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting A minimum of 4 years experience in financial reporting A minimum of 2 years experience managing a group of individuals responsible for financial reporting Excellent analytical capabilities and problem solving skills required Excellent communication and leadership skills Advanced Excel skills is a plus Knowledge of Investment vehicles, including stocks and bonds Knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP), is a plus Insurance industry experience is a plus Ability to adapt to changing environment, handle multiple tasks, prioritize daily work and work effectively under pressure in order to meet deadlines Work shouldn’t be something you do just to make ends meet.
