Underwriting Associate

The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies is currently seeking an Underwriting Associate to join its Cleveland team.

 The Underwriting Associate contributes to the achievement of department goals relating to growth, profit, renewal retention, service and producer/client management.

 The Underwriting Associate:

-Analyzes account-specific information (including, but not limited to, loss information, driver information, financials, loss control reports) and completes risk report for referral to the underwriter.

-Develops information and recommendations, based on the account analysis that will be used as the basis for renewal strategy.

-Determines pricing strategy in conjunction with underwriter.

-Coordinates the renewal process for the underwriter.

-Reviews submission information with the underwriter, coordinates the quoting process and completes the Risk Report.

-Completes all issuance instructions including appropriate forms, coverages and final premium.

-Ensures file integrity.

-May include underwriting authority.

-Includes dual accountability to the Operations Services Division and Underwriting Management.

 

Requirements:

The individual in this position must have strong communication, and organizational skills.

 In addition the individual must demonstrate the following skills:

-Mathematical aptitude.

-Knowledge of applicable rating systems.

-Knowledge of underwriting and rate/rule manuals.

-Proficiency in on-line reference manuals.

-Familiarity with ISO work comp bureaus and other regulatory agencies as appropriate to territory.

-Knowledge of underwriting principles.

-Knowledge of policy forms.

-Ability to recognize exposure to loss.

-Ability to analyze account information and make recommendation to underwriter regarding account.

-Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Power Point.

-Ability to organize work and perform within time constraints.

-Strong written and verbal communication skills.

-Limited travel may be required.
