Vice President of Underwriting Operations
RPC Insurance Agency, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kingsway America, is a leading Managing General Agency in the NY Metro Area for full service personal and commercial auto insurance services. We have a great opportunity for a motivated professional leader who seeks to work in a fast paced environment in our Long Island Office. As the VP of Underwriting Operations, you lead the Company’s growth into new markets and deliver exceptional results. Your oversight will include Underwriting, Statistical Reporting and IT. This position reports directly to the company president.
Responsibilities
· Directs the development and strategy of the organization through its future growth, and continuously evaluates operational results to ensure organizational objectives and profit targets are being achieved.
· Participates with senior management in the development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans to achieve company’s profit objectives;
· Identifies business needs and establishes priorities in the development of IT system enhancements to achieve customer service and quality goals;
· Monitors strategic and tactical plans for Underwriting and product management to ensure oversight of product language, compliance and rate adequacy;
· Proactively anticipates future business needs and serves as a catalyst in developing appropriate operational support;
· Develops and is responsible for the operational budget and capitalizes on expense reduction opportunities and technology solutions;
· Coach, mentor and direct training & development of team to ensure operational excellence;
· Design and execute employee development plans
Education
· A bachelor degree in business or equivalent is required in a related field. Candidates with an advanced degree a plus.
Experience
· Highly motivated and professional individual with 10+ years of progressive private passenger and/or commercial auto underwriting management. Plus, 5+ years of senior management experience in managing general agency operations and/or insurance divisions with full P&L responsibilities.
· Hands on knowledge of state/territory regulations and issues, industry activity and trends. Past or current participation in industry trade groups a plus.
· Successful track record of recruiting, training, motivating employees, and managing profitable business divisions.
· Experience in developing business strategy into superior operational practices and delivering exceptional results.
· Experience managing multiple operations.
· Proven track record in leading successful projects that have been on time and within budget.
Skills
· Demonstrated ability to accomplish goals through leadership and influence management at all levels;
· Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and coaching skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others to take action.
· Strong business acumen, results oriented, project management and analytical thinking;
· Creative and able to initiate change through systematic approaches and formal process management methodologies;
· Strong problem resolution, decision making and customer service skills;
· Strong technology and system proficiency a plus.
