Vocational Supervisor

At SAIF Corporation, the Claims Division is one of our largest and most important departments. Our Claims Division, centrally located at our corporate headquarters in Salem, employs over 300 professional and technical staff including claims adjusters, nurse consultants, vocational coordinators, claims specialists, and claims assistants.

 

The vocational supervisor oversees the work of 10 vocational coordinators that manage vocational issues in workers’ compensation claims. The supervisor is responsible for team results, quality and quantity of work, customer service, performance management, personnel administration, staff training and development, team building, technical guidance, and participation in claims unit management. 

 

The vocational supervisor promotes professionalism, flexibility, and a positive image of SAIF while coaching others to the same high standard. Because we place a high value on those qualities and the service our vocational team delivers to injured workers, we also provide supervisors with on-going training opportunities.

 

The position reports to a claims director.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

· Current Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor certification and an associate of arts degree. A bachelor of arts degree is preferred.

· Three years of progressively responsible workers’ compensation or related insurance experience, with technical competency managing vocational assistance in workers’ compensation claims.

· Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a business setting is strongly preferred.

· Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and decision-making skills.

· Proficient business math and computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and use of automated claims tracking systems.
