Voluntary Employee Benefits Enrollment Specialist

The ideal candidate is able to multi-task and prioritize actions and has strong and effective follow up skills. The ability to build productive relationships with on-site and off-site staff members, vendors, insurance carriers, and other professionals representing clients is essential.  This position will be responsible for servicing all aspects of new and existing business.  In addition, the role will assist the Associate Director of Voluntary Benefits in the fulfillment of proposals, enrollment materials, and other client communication materials as necessary.

 

Position Responsibilities

 

Client Support

§  Primarily supports all Voluntary Benefits Services during and post-enrollment, including call center enrollment and ongoing administrative support

§  Maintains on-going relationships with H.R. Contacts, clients, employees and insurance vendors

§  Assists Associate Director of Voluntary Benefits in reporting prospects, outstanding administrative issues, and commissions earned by the department on a weekly basis

§  Other duties as assigned

 

EnrollmentManages application processing from beginning to endReviews applications using VB Scrubbing Checklist and Elections Database for accuracyCoordinates with employee/employer/Broker/Enroller to obtain missing informationData enters demographic information into client system and manages application storagePrepares and delivers payroll deduction spreadsheet to client and new and existing case paperwork and scrubbed applications to appropriate carrier(s)

Case ManagementReconciles billing discrepancies as necessaryResolves issues as appropriateCoordinates the reinstatement process through underwriting/carrier

Project Management

§  Works with Voluntary Benefits Team and Associate Director of Voluntary Benefits to understand the goals, objectives, and potential revenue of each case, as well as plan for the implementation

§  Coordinates printed enrollment materials needed for each case

General

§  Works with Associate Director of Voluntary Benefits to create and implement departmental processes as needed

§  Orchestrates weekly Voluntary Benefits Department meetings

§  Serves as back-up for Voluntary Benefits Planning, including proposal generation and benefit analysis

 

Position Requirements

 

Education

High School Degree or equivalent required.

2 or 4 year Degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting or related field preferred

6 years of industry relevant experience in a service/ support role acceptable in lieu of degree

 

Experience

At least 2 years of previous client service, medical underwriting, and/or insurance experience required.

Industry experience with group employee benefits or voluntary worksite marketing strongly preferre.

 

Resident State Life & Health Insurance License required within 6 months of hire, or upon promotion to this position.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Attributes

Microsoft Outlook (basic level – creating of emails and other correspondence including attachments)

Microsoft Word (intermediate level – ability to create forms, formatted correspondence and mail merge documents)

Microsoft Excel (intermediate level – ability to understand complex formulas and create spreadsheets)

Microsoft Access (basic level – ability to enter data into a database and print reports)

Ability to learn and demonstrate the ability to plan and analyze for various situations

Ability to work on a team effectively

Ability to perform effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities

Ability to cope effectively with risk and uncertainty and remain courteous under pressure

Ability to communicate upward, downward and laterally

Ability to communicate complex information in user-friendly terms

Attitude of 'Client First' mentality in client relations

Knowledge of medical terms used to rate cases a plus.
