Web Designer

The Midland Company and its A+ rated property & casualty insurance subsidiary, American Modern Insurance Group, are looking for an experienced Web Designer. We are a proven provider of specialty insurance products and services, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.

 



Design, develop and administer multiple Web sites to meet the needs of business partners and customers of a specialty property and casualty insurance company. Work collaboratively with cross-functional, cross-disciplinary team members on B2B, B2C, and B2E sites and applications. Support strategic initiatives to enhance and broaden the corporate image and presence on the Web. Help drive user-centric design processes and validate usability and overall user satisfaction.





Experience: At least 3 years experience designing, implementing and administering Web sites with proven background in designing interfaces of Web-based applications. Would prefer the candidate have Familiarity with the insurance or financial industry. 2 years experience designing dynamic portals.

 

Knowledge & Skills: Expertise in HTML, XHTML, PHP, CSS, and JavaScript. Strong background in graphic design and optimization for the Web. Ability to analyze basic requirements to fully realize interactive prototypes and improve processes. Experience in applying user-centered design principles. Solid understanding of information architecture. Familiarity with Web-related tools and protocols, including interacting with hosting companies. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously. An enduring passion to promote the interests of the user.Would prefer the candidate to have a Background in documenting UI specifications including style guides. Experience in applying "Web standards" to design sites. Ability to plan and conduct usability tests. An understanding of the iterative approach of the software development life cycle. Familiarity with use case development and UML. Background in search engine optimization and Web analytics. Experience in creating JSPs.

 

Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional training or experience
