Funeral Directors Life Insurance Company is seeking an experienced, full time Web Developer.  The successful candidate must be a team player who enjoys working hard, innovating and challenging themselves to develop exciting, results-oriented Web projects.  The ideal candidate will have experience in all phases of website development, including: conception and design, programming, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Development of new Web pages for companies and clients Websites

* Maintenance and enhancement of companies and clients existing Websites

* Effectively testing web presentation and successfully validating XHTML/CSS code

* Participating in all phases of the development life cycle on new Web projects

* Leveraging past development experience to enhance our online offerings

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related work experience

* 3+ years previous experience in IT & Web Development in a professional capacity

* Should be a self-starter, able to manage his/her own time

* Solid work ethic, integrity, and exceptional interpersonal/communication skills

* Ability to self-test work to ensure best practices and highest quality

* Ability to work independently or as a team

* Considers no job too small

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

* Ability to hand code, standards-compliant XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript

* Competency in working with Photoshop 7.0+ and user interface design

* In-depth knowledge of web design standards and browser compatibility issues

* Experience working with relational databases for the web (MySQL)

* Experience working with at least one scripting language (JSP or PHP)

* Knowledge of industry-standard Web development tools (e.g. Homesite, TopStyle)

* Experience coding Object Oriented applications is a major plus (preferably in Java)
