Allstate was founded in 1931 and became a publicly traded company in 1993.WebSphere Portal Application Developer The Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) department has ownership and delivery of various enterprise technology services, and provides new capabilities around enterprise common component support, as well as application environment and configuration support.  The mission of Enterprise Technology Services is to enable Allstate to rapidly develop core technology aligned competencies, leverage those competencies against business-aligned initiatives and assist in continually updating reference architectures. As part of the ETS-Portal Application Integration team, we are looking for an experienced Java Developer to assist us with integration applications into the employee portal call myDesktop. Responsibilities includes: Creates detailed technical specifications, develops application and system code, participates in code reviews and module testing, and supports ongoing maintenance Analyzes and reviews business, functional and high level technical requirements Designs detailed technical components with high-level architecture; recognizes and understands use of design patterns for intermediate to moderately complex applications.  Applies reusability and future state architectures Provides input into detailed project estimates and work plan Programs/develops code independently for system changes or new modules Develops code independently for intermediate to complex modules Follows documentation and development standards Creates enhancement design documentation and implements complex changes Plans and conducts timely structured code reviews to ensure standards and systems interoperability Conducts module and basic integration levels of testing according to process standards.  Tracks and resolves moderate to complex defects Assists Quality Control (QC) personnel with functional tests Performs production support and troubleshooting, and maintenance Identifies support issues and initiates action to resolve the problem.  Provides technical assistance.  Analyzes and resolves moderate to complex problems Prepares and packages code elements for production deployment Moves production-ready files to staging area manually or with migration tools Communicates and coordinates among manager, developers, QC analysts, and environment management personnel Acts as subject matter expert for a portion of a complex system Builds, cultivates and maintains long-term relationships.  Manages the expectations of customers.  Assists in maintaining contact with software vendors and other groups external to Allstate organization 3-5 years experience with Java (J2ee) Additional experience with IBM WebSphere Portal preferred
