WEBSPHERE PORTAL DEVELOPER — Experienced, Professional-Level Opportunity As a Websphere Portal Developer - Professional, you will be responsible for creating detailed technical specifications, developing application and system code, participating in code reviews and module testing, and supporting on-going maintenance. Primary responsibilities include: Consults with external development teams on how to integrate into the Agency-facing WebSphere Portal CreatesMaintains a set of common code components for use by development teams wanting to integrate into the Agency-facing WebSphere Portal Partners with external development teams to create a detailed project estimate Creates detailed technical specifications, develops application and system code, participates in code reviews and module testing, and supports ongoing maintenance Analyzes and reviews business, functional, and high level technical requirements Design detail technical components with high-level architecture; recognize and understand use of design patterns for intermediates to moderately complex applications. Applies reusability and future state architectures. Develops code independently for intermediate to complex modules. Follows documentation & development standards. Plans and conducts timely structured code reviews to ensure standards and systems interoperability. Assists Quality Control (QC) personnel with functional tests. Performs production support and troubleshooting, and maintenance Identifies support issues and initiates action to resolve the problem. Provides technical assistance. Analyzes and resolves moderate to complex problems. Prepares and packages code elements for production deployment. Communicates and coordinates among manager, developers, QC analysts, and environment management personnel. Acts as subject matter expert for a portion of a complex system. The successful candidate should exhibit the following skills and abilities: Program Design — Demonstrates mastery of program design tasks independently and without support from others for difficult programs. Applications System Architecture — Basic knowledge of systems architecture related directly to work assignments. Programming — Demonstrates proficiency of programming tasks independently and without support from others for moderately difficult applications. Program Documentation — Ability to write simple, clear, detailed and comprehensive documentation with accepted documentation conventions. Program Testing — Able to program test data, perform volume testing and insure data validity passed between programs. Applications Knowledge — Demonstrates a conceptual and business understanding of the application as well as related applications.Experience required 3-5 years working with WebSphere Portal and other Java based web applications. Ideally, this candidate has worked on implementations using the Software Development Lifecycle. This could be either using traditional waterfall or agile approaches. Computer proficiency Must Have: 3+ years of experience developing in WebSphere Portal Server version 5.x or 6.x and general portlet development using RAD or WSAD 4+ years of experience developing in Java Familiarity with JSR 168 (portlet programming API) Knowledge and experiencing using Java Server Faces (JSF) Experience developing J2EE applications Proficiency using JUnit, HTML, JavaScript, XML.
