Workers Compensation/Leave of Absence Specialist
DELTA DENTAL OF CALIFORNIA, a proven leader in the healthcare industry, is the state’s largest dental health carrier, covering 18 million people in its commercial and government programs throughout California and the nation. Currently, we have an excellent opportunity available in our Human Resource Department. We are seeking a hands-on, positive and pro-active Workers Compensation/Leave of Absence Specialist to join our team in our Rancho Cordova office. This position will interact daily with employees and key business partners.
The primary function of the Workers Compensation/Leave of Absence Specialist position is as follows:
1. Assist employees with the timely filing of Workers’ Compensation claims including referrals to medical clinics. Administer First Aide program. Coordinate and follow-up with insurance carrier and treating physicians as necessary to facilitate claims closure and report of lost time. Coordinate and facilitate meetings with the carrier, clinics and management as needed. Complete CalOsha log. 2. Perform ergonomic evaluations. Arranges for contracted ergonomic evaluations. Responsible for completing monthly ergonomic report. 3. Provide guidance, administer and track ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)- requests to include paperwork administration, documentation, communication and analysis of accommodation requests and hardship analyses. 4. Administer and analyze leave of absence programs to include ADA, FMLA, CFRA, and company leave of absence. LOA training for supervisors and managers. Conduct employee counseling sessions when necessary, uniformly, enforce return-to-work policies and coordinate and follow-up on second medical opinions under FMLA.5. Benefits responsibilities such as benefits orientation, resource for employee questions and determine Cobra eligibility.
Ideal candidate must be highly motivated and meet the following minimum qualifications:Bachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and related work experience. Knowledge of WC and Safety programs and laws (2+years). Knowledge of ergonomic practices and principles. Previous experience administering leaves of absence programs to include FMLA, CFRA, PDL ADA experience (2+ years). Communication skills to effectively present and conduct training for groups of employees and supervisors. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HR data base systems. Current knowledge of Federal and State employment laws and regulations i.e. FMLA, CFRA, FEHA, ADA. Ability to communicate clearly orally and writing. Ability to positively overcome objections and manage conflict. Ability to work independently, problem solve, and handle multiple priorities. OSHA/Cal OSHA experience helpful. Ability to travel to other Delta Dental offices as needed (minimal).
