As a Software Engineering Manager in Fairfield, California, your in-depth understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Java technologies and frameworks, build systems, and unit and system testing will lead to your solution implementation success at Copart, Inc. You will work with other MIS managers and staff to deliver quality, mission-critical software products that include web applications, services, and their supporting utilities and databases. Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering- Web Products, it is your responsibility to ensure that your deliverables are fully tested before the final QA phase.
You must be able to lead the staff by having the technical and management skills required. This is a demanding position for a highly experienced management level engineer with exceptional hands-on and people skills. This position requires a high energy level, continuously improving efficiency and communication, and unwavering reliability and commitment to software engineering excellence.
Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and mentor a diverse team of software engineers including Front-end, Application, and Database (RPG) software engineers Manage Copart software products and systems thru the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) Evaluate, approve, and create technical design documents Distribute SDLC status reports Manage defect lifecycle reporting Generate release notes for each build Coordinate testing with systems operations and quality assurance Plan resource needs by project Ensure team is trained in knowledge of business practices Ensure Best Practices and Procedures within the SDLC

Job Requirements: Qualifications/Experience
BA/BS in Computer Science, EE, Math, or equivalent experience 3+ years managing software engineering teams 8+ years software engineering experience in Java/J2EE Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle Proven track record delivering quality products Excellent application design and architecture experience Proven project and resource management experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong understanding of SQL/Relational Database concepts Experience developing Java 1.3-1.6, J2ME, Servlets, MVC Frameworks (Spring or Struts), Web Services, XML/XSL, Web 2.0 (CSS, Javascript, AJAX, and HTML) In-depth understanding of web application security Understanding of varied coding approaches for high-volume traffic, load-balanced application environments Experience with continuous integration, ANT, Maven, and source control.

UML, Visio, Unix, DB2, iSeries/AS400, RPG, Web Server administration (Resin or Apache), iBatis, Freemarker, Fortify SCA, and automated web scripting.
